What is History??

It is a record of events that have gone by.

Every time the button is pressed a record is created.

Each Record has a date and time, and a description of what happened. (See more about time ->) This is called an Event.

All the events grouped together describe a history of the button, about when it was pressed.

In real life though not all events have dates and times or good descriptions so they are not easy to place in the right order. Nor are they as simple as this example, real events are often related and cause other events to happen in a complex pattern.

Historians, the people that study history, have to do a lot of checks to make sure they have everything in the right order and sometimes even have to look at all the clues so that they can make a good guess.
